Brightstorm

£7.00

A rip-roaring fantasy adventure, perfect for readers aged 8+, set in a wonderful steampunk-esque world of intrepid explorers and devious villains, chockful of marvellous sky-ships, sapient animals and ingenious inventions!
Twins Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm receive word in Lontown that their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach the southernmost point in the world. Not only that, but he has been accused of stealing fuel before he died! The twins don't believe the news, and they answer an ad to join a new expedition to South Polaris. It's their only hope of learning the truth ...and salvaging their family's reputation. They set sail in a marvellous sky-ship on a perilous voyage to discover the truth, encountering all manner of devious saboteurs and quirky characters along the way.

This is one of my go-to recommends for readers aged 8+, as Vashti's world-building powers are on a par with Philip Reeve or Philip Pullman, but the books are a much easier read for a slighter younger audience. It's very fast paced and exciting, my youngest son and I were hooked from page 1!
